The event is gaining momentum, just like the practice it puts forward.



The opportunity to bring together the skiers of ski touring in all their diversity. Because if not new, the activity has undergone profound changes in recent seasons and the craze for hiking and its derivatives (freeride hike, ski fitness ...) is no longer denied.

The genesis of the event comes from this: how can we help practitioners get started? "Hiking is really great but it's like getting a sports car without a license," says Gino Decisier, organizer of the event with his partner Guillaume Desmurs, journalist.

A meeting dedicated to the pros in the preamble

If in Austria or Switzerland the offer is already well structured, thanks in particular to the support of the stations, France is struggling to find the way to use. Hence the idea of creating as a preamble to the Big Up and Down, a meeting dedicated to the pros to help understand this phenomenon with the participation of different actors.

Who are these new hikers?

 "On the Big Up and Down, participants don't have a typical profile. Everyone comes with their ski culture. Some are very focused on the performance on the climb and will end up in the "Kilianometer" (timed dry climb), others are more contemplative and will enjoy the "Beautiful climb" (framed and free night outing) and others, which others, which come from alpine skiing, will have fun on the "Big Nak" (an enduro that makes the most of the descent), explains Gino Decisier.

On the other hand, the two ambassadors of the Big Up and Down, the trail-rider/mountain skier Kilian Jornet and the freerider Enak Gavaggio are the example.
